Serge Hoogendoorn, coordinator of the DIT4TraM project, has been installed as a new member of the prestigious Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). Together with Serge, 22 other leading researchers from across all the disciplines, were appointed. The formal installation was on September 13, 2021.
KNAW is the forum, conscience, and voice of the arts and sciences in the Netherlands. The Academy advises the Dutch Government on matters related to scientific pursuit. It has about 550 members, who are all ‘members for life’.
First traffic and transport scientist
Although not even 50 years of age, Hoogendoorn has a reputation and track record of publications, citations and research grants comparable to that of considerably older researchers. According to KNAW, “he fully deserves to be the first traffic and transport scientist to be admitted to the Academy.”
